We specialize in one-on-one and small-group athlete development in the sports of running, cycling, swimming, and triathlon.

We train:

  • "Adult-onset athletes" who are just getting involved in sport for the first time
  • Athletes with sport-specific phobias such as open-water swimming or pack-riding
  • Age-group athletes who want to challenge themselves and take their performance to the next level

 We provide:

  • Safe, structured, supportive opportunities for performance improvement and skill acquisition
  • Small classes and group workouts to motivate and build camaraderie among athletes
  • Effective, flexible, personalized training plans and clinics to meet the needs of any athlete and budget 

In contrast to many online coaching services, we believe that one-size coaching does NOT fit all.  Our philosophy is that the athlete should drive the training approach - not the other way around!

As the founder and head coach of TLC, April Bowling draws on her deep competitive experience, USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, and Iyangar Yoga certifications, and years coaching Team TriROK (Tri Racing for Our Kids) to give her athletes superb, personalized coaching and classes.  She also incorporates the services of a tested Performance Team, including several expert, certified associate coaches, to ensure that her athletes get all the attention they need and deserve.

Summer Swimming and Track Begin! - Thursday, June 03, 2010

Welcome to summer!  Beginning at 6:30am on Friday, June 11, we will be holding coached swims at Chebacco Lake in Essex.  Each 4-week session is $32 per person and will cover sighting, endurance swim technique, buoy turns, mass starts, and drafting.  Wetsuits are recommended but not required.

Beginning at 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 15th we will start the first session of Summer Track.  The first week will be pace testing for those who did not participate in spring track or have recent 5k or 10k race results.  Track 60-75 minutes long and is held at the Hamilton-Wenham and Ipswich tracks.  The cost for each 4-week session is $52 for the public, and $45 for TriLife athletes.

What a great showing!  Congratulations to all of our athletes and friends that completed the Gloucester Tri last Sunday!  And a special shout out to first-timers Roxanne Costello, Lori Smith, Jenn Flaherty, and John Carlson, who not only survived but thrived on the course!  We see competitive age-groupers in the making!  We also saw a great showing by TriROK'ers as individuals and as teams.
